The Librarian
By Jeffrey Star
Charlie Davidson liked his fair share of sports and video games but there was 1 thing that he loved most in the world; reading.
Charlie loved reading. He had read all the classics Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and others but what he loved most of all were short stories by O. Henry.
Books were his only way to get away from it all and his favorite place to read was on the green bean bag chair in the school library where he had the best school librarian Ms. Jessie.
If she wasn’t the school librarian he didn’t know what he would do. This is where we start now. Charlie is about to get horrible news.
Charlie had blindly walked into the library, “Hello Ms. Jesse” he called. Suddenly a voice came bursting like a frog trying to say something “ Ms. Jesse? Do I look like Ms. Jesse to you?”
“Nnnnnot at all”
“I’m Ms. Norris your new librarian”
“What happened to Ms. Jesse?!?!”
“That’s none of your business kid, now go read a book.”
“But what about Ms. Jesse?”
“If you ask that question one more time you are being sent straight to detention.”
“Ok ok fine” was what he said but not what he thought. He thought of a plan quicker than you could say quick and the plan went a little something like this.
The best way to contact Ms. Jesse would be on the phone so if he could just wait for the librarian to leave her desk he could grab the contact list from the desk and call Ms. Jessie.
So he took a book, sat down, and waited. If Ms. Norris wouldn't get up to the bathroom soon he would have to go back to class. But luckily she got up and went to the bathroom. Charlie walked up to the desk and grabbed the contact list, he scrolled through about every teacher and parent in the school and then he saw Ms. Jesse’s phone number. He took out his phone and pressed “add contact”, typed in the numbers but right before entering the last digit, he heard a voice that said one of the things that Charlie dreaded most “DETENTION.”
After school Charlie went into the detention room and saw Ms. Norris?!?!
“Hi Charlie, why don't you take a seat right there next to my desk”
“Uhg”
“SIT”
Then, Mrs. Norris took out the exact book Charlie read at the library.
“Did you get to the part where Gultista eats Catropolin?” He asked
“Wait, you know this book?” she asked.
“Of course I read it today”
And then they talked about Gultista the Monster for the entirety of detention but it all felt like just one second, and Charlie thought that Ms. Norris might not be that bad after all.
The next day Charlie walked into the school library and said “ Hi Ms .Norris” but when Charlie turned he saw none other than Ms. Jesse.
“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO”
